Amanita Design, the studio behind acclaimed whimsical adventure games like Machinarium, Botanicula, and the Samorost series, has revealed that the original Samorost is coming to Android “soon”.
It seems Amanita Design is counting backwards when it comes to mobile Samorost releases. The second game came to the Google Play Store last November, some considerable time after the third. The first will complete the collection.
Samorost was first released all the way back in 2003, making it one of the first games to feature Amanita Design’s distinctive ethereal aesthetic and quirky puzzle-adventure gameplay.
Here’s a trailer for Samorost 3, to give you an idea.
Gameplay-wise, Samorost sees you solving fairly abstract puzzles in a bid to prevent a spaceship from crashing into the home planet of the game’s gnome protagonist.
We’re not sure how much Samarost will cost when it lands on the Google Play Store. Samorost 2 normally costs $2.99, but is currently on sale for 99c, while Samorost 3 is currently discounted from $4.99 to $1.99.
